Jewelry (cont.)

Vered Kaminski

1999

The Brooches in this exhibition are mosaics made from pieces of metal. This is the continuation of those of my earlier works which were made with stone fragments.

Building in stone requires bonding material or setting. The transition to metal allowed me to solder the pieces together, transforming them into larger, set pieces.

Others of the brooches started as single pieces, with the voids being cut-out later.

Sometimes the brooch is a picture of the shadow of a three-dimensional, earlier work.

The bracelets are the continuation of work whose raw materials were fences and screens. Each bracelet is constructed as an individual rigid piece which wraps around the arm like a fence.
